Thursday 21AUG08

Today I was amazed that two pupils had not done their homework. :(

We spent a lot of time marking the homework and discussing the question about covalent radii and Van der Waals radii.

Then we moved on to the role of electronegativity in determining bond type.

News for Higher Chemistry class

Sorry to bring you bad news but Mrs Bayliss will be out of school next Wednesday so you guys are going ot have a test. It will be only on the things that you have done with Mrs Bayliss but I had a look at it and all I can say is get revising NOW! It looks like quite a tricky one to me :-)

Welcome Higher class!

Last year I blogged the work of my three S1 science classes. This year Ive decided to use it for the Higher class.

Homework for the holiday was to complete the bonding in elements question booklet.

First week back we will mark the questions and push on with bonding in compounds.  This only involves looking at polar covalent and ionic bonds and clarifying intermolecular bonding.

There will be a test very soon-perhaps the second week back. It is on periodic trends and bonding in elements and compounds.
